Bihar storm kills 32, 80 injured

An ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each has been sanctioned for the next of kin of the victims

At least 32 people were killed and over 80 others were injured by storms that struck three districts of Bihar- Patna, Purnia and Madhepura-late on Tuesday night.

An ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each has been sanctioned for the next of kin of the victims.

"32 people died. An ex-gratia of Rs.4 lakh to be given. 80 people injured," said Vyas Ji, Principal Secretary to Bihar State Disaster Management. (ANI)

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said he would personally take stock of the areas which have been affected by storms, and added that appropriate measures would be taken.

"The incident took place in the night (storm). I will personally take stock of the situation in Purnia and Bhagalpur. We are assessing the situation, all appropriate measures will be taken," Kumar said while speaking in the state assembly.
