Three-time Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson, who was honoured as this year's 'Powerhouse' at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music event, revealed she isn't too afraid to get political.

Speaking at the red carpet, the 'Piece By Piece' singer said, "I feel like, for me personally, it's important to be involved and it's important to show my fans to be involved. You should stand for something."

The 35-year-old was also asked what the term 'powerhouse' meant to her, to which she replied with a laugh, "I guess it's someone who walks into a room and, like them or hate them, they're here!"

Clarkson further revealed the moment she is extremely proud of and said the release of her latest album 'Meaning of Life' is the 'proudest moment' of her entire career.

"I've done a lot of cool things but this project, I've been waiting to do since I was a kid," she explained. "Just being allowed to just have the creative freedom that I've had is a blessing. It's what the creative industry should be."

For the unversed, the Women in Music event took place in conjunction with Billboard's Women in Music issue, honouring the industry's most powerful artists and executives.

Before walking the red carpet, the American Idol winner wrote on Instagram, "Can't help but feel 10x stronger just being in the presence of ALL these powerful ladies.
