'Birdman,' directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, has won the Best Picture award at the 2015 Oscars.
The American black comedy-drama film nabbed the award after beating 'American Sniper,' 'Boyhood,' 'The Grand Budapest Hotel,' 'The Imitation Game,' 'Selma,' 'The Theory of Everything' and 'Whiplash.'
The film that stars Michael Keaton, with a supporting cast of Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts, follows protagonist Riggan Thomson, a faded Hollywood actor famous for his role as superhero Birdman, as he struggles to mount a Broadway adaptation of a short story by Raymond Carver.
The 87th Academy Awards were being held at Dolby Theatre in London.
