Defense of Ross Ulbricht, the possible mastermind of Silk Road, has pointed out to Mark Karpeles, CEO of now-defunct Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox as the person responsible for the billion-dollar operation of the online marketplace for illegal drugs while Karpeles immediately issued a denial.
According to Mashable, Ulbricht is on trial for allegedly being the mastermind behind Silk Road.
During a cross-examination of a federal agent Jared Der-Yeghiayan who investigated Silk Road, Ulbricht's defense showed old emails wherein Der-Yeghiayan believed that the Bitcoin CEO was "Dread Pirate Roberts" which was a pseudonym used by the Silk Road head and a reference to the Rob Reiner film The Princess Bride.
He said that he had abundance of evidence that could prove that Karpeles is Dread Pirate Roberts.
Ulbricht is facing multiple serious charges in connection to Silk Road that could result in possible life imprisonment.
