Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Shazia Ilmi was taken into custody by the Delhi Police for questioning in connection to her role in clashes outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office.
"My name is in the FIR so the police is taking me to the station. I am abiding with them," Ilmi told reporters outside her home.
"The video footage of the event shows that I am innocent and I have done nothing illegal," she said.
She further said that the party only raised their voices and never their hands. "This is the first time that such an incident has taken place in the history of our party and hopefully it is the last time," she added.
Earlier, AAP leader Ashutosh, who was booked for rioting, went with the police saying, "I am a law abiding citizen, if the police wants me to co operate in the investigation then I will."
He also appealed to the AAP workers to maintain calm and asked them to refrain from acting against the police.
