Commenting on the controversy sparked by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik's statement on building a Ram temple in Ayodhya, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Nath Singh on Friday said that the Opposition should raise valid issues before public and not spread propaganda.

"Is it wrong to take Ram's name? Is it wrong to construct Ram's temple? Is the belief of millions in Lord Ram is wrong? The Opposition should raise valid issues before public and not spread propaganda," said Singh.

Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) leader K.C Tyagi demanded the resignation of the Uttar Pradesh governor.

"I request the President to remove the governor of Uttar Pradesh from his post as he has violated the Constitution of India," said Tyagi.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Thursday sparked controversy after he said that a Ram temple should be built in Ayodhya saying that "it is the wish of Indian citizens".

"People of the nation want Ram Mandir to be made, that wish should be fulfilled as soon as possible," Naik said.
