The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said the people of Delhi would have been happier if the AAP Government would have called a special assembly session to address the immediate issues in the national capital rather than for 're-writing the Constitution'.

"It's a sad story that is going on in Delhi. They have a special assembly session. Delhi would have been happy if the special session would have been about the issues and dire necessities of the people of Delhi but despite the fact that Delhi is facing so many problems today, for their own purpose they convey a special assembly session to re-write the constitution of the country," said party spokesperson Sambit Patra.

On Tuesday, BJP MLA O.P. Sharma was escorted out of the Delhi assembly by marshals after a row with the Speaker Ram Niwas Goel.

Sharma and two other BJP MLAs were protesting against the Speaker's criticism of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung while discussing the recent notification issued by the MHA on administrative jurisdiction in the capital city.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government has convened a two-day emergency session of the Legislative assembly to debate the government's ongoing row over power sharing with Lieutenant General Jung.
