The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday came all out blazing on the Congress party for not appreciating the announced One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, saying the latter did not do anything to solve the deadlock.
"For forty long years the Congress did not do anything to solve the deadlock of the OROP scheme, rather it began because of the inaction of Indira Gandhi in 1973," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI.
"They (Congress) should go on a "maun vrat" and should not comment negatively on it (OROP)," he added.
Terming the day as a historic day for the ex-servicemen, Patra pointed out that the government will be looking after the volunteer retired ex-servicemen in a different purview.
Asked if the 'achhe din' for the ex-servicemen have come, Patra said, "It is a 'achhe din' for the country because the long pending demands of war veterans for past 40 year was cleared today," adding that it was the 'achhe din' for the governance.
