Seeking to pacify the rift within the saffron brigade that has come out in the open following party veteran Lal Krishna Advani's resignation from all key posts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday lashed out at the ruling Congress Party and said that it should worry about its government, which is sinking under the weight of several scams.

BJP Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the Congress Party should concentrate on its own troubles, and added that the BJP would very soon bounce back from this situation.

"Rather than worrying about us, the Congress party should worry about the country, they should worry about their government, which is sinking under the weight of several scams. They should stop worrying about us," said Naqvi.

"We will solve the problems that we are facing and we will emerge strong and united and the Bharatiya Janata Party would root out the Congress Government," he added.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Manjeet Singh G.K said Advani's resignation would not hamper the ties between his political outfit and the BJP.

"The Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party share a historic coalition and that partnership will not get affected. This is an internal matter, but we do believe that there is sense of worry in the country because Advaniji is a very senior leader and he has played a significant role in the building of this party," he said.

Advani yesterday resigned from party's Parliamentary Board, Election Committee and National Executive.

In his resignation letter submitted to BJP President Rajnath Singh, Advani said he has been finding it difficult to reconcile with the functioning of the party and the direction in which it is going.

Advani, who was not happy with Modi's appointment as the chairman of campaign committee for 2014 general elections, said that most BJP leaders are concerned just with their personal agenda.

Senior BJP leaders visited Advani at his residence here today to persuade him to withdraw his resignation, which was rejected by the party's top decision-making body last evening.
