With Congress party veteran Ambika Soni seeking to be relieved as in-charge of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said that the grand old party appears to be cracking from within.
BJP leader S. Prakash said the Soni's announcement clearly indicates that all is not well in the Congress.
"The Congress party is dithering. Differences are surfacing in the party as many serious leaders are planning to quit the Congress. Ambika Soni is an old horse in the party, and if she has expressed her desire to shed all her responsibility then it clearly shows that not all is well in the congress party," said Prakash.
"I've requested leadership to relieve me as in-charge of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh due to health reasons," Soni told ANI yesterday, rejecting reports that she has quit the party altogether.
However, there has been no official word from the party yet.
In her political career spanning over a time period of 50 years, Soni held various posts.
