The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday defended its chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi's remarking regarding the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that the former IPS officer had rightly termed the organisation as 'nationalist'.
"I am a swayamsevak of the RSS and Kiran Bedi has rightly stated that the RSS is a 'nationalist organisation'," BJP leader Prabhat Jha told the media.
Meanwhile, Congress leader JP Agarwal said that one should stay away from provocative politics.
"Her [Kiran Bedi] ideology is to break and divide the nation. The BJP's respective leaders always indulge in controversial statements. One should stay away from such provocative politics," Agarwal told ANI.
"Now, when Kiran Bedi is in BJP, everyone has to salute Kiran Bedi, be it the BJP, RSS, Shiv Sena, Ram Sena or even the Vanar Sena," he added.
According to media reports, Bedi earlier in the day described the Sangh as 'very nationalistic', adding that has kept the country united.
