Dubbing the endeavor as unconstitutional, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday ridiculed the tabling of the Draft Bill seeking full Statehood to Delhi in the public domain by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and said this step has hampered the entire federal structure of the nation.

BJP leader Satish Upadhyay told ANI all statehood issue is being raised by the AAP to fool the people of Delhi.

"This is one more stunt of the Aam Aadmi Party to fool and divert the attention of the people of Delhi. This is a new drama by Arvind Kejriwal. This step of his has hampered the federal structure of the nation. They step is unconstitutional," said Upadhyay.

"We also vouched for statehood but in a very different manner and the situation at that time was very different," he added.

To attain statehood for the national capital was the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP's one of the most prominent promises made during the assembly elections, which swept it to power last year.

Earlier on April 30, Kejriwal announced on Twitter that his government was ready with a draft Bill aimed at obtaining full-fledged Statehood for the capital.
