Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Saturday lashed out at Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President N.Srinivasan saying he should resign.

Johi said: "Srinivasan (President of Board of Control for Cricket in India) should resign. The allegations are pointed at him while his son-in-law is clearly involved in all this. Now if he continues to be stubborn, then law shall take its course. Today it has to be remembered that the law is above everybody in this country."

Meanwhile, former BCCI President I.S. Bindra also demanded the immediate removal of a defiant N. Srinivasan due to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing row, calling him "arrogant" and insisting that his continuance would damage Indian cricket.

"I have been keeping quiet on this issue but his statement that he will not step down, in Mumbai today, shows that he is as arrogant as ever," Bindra said.

"I demand that he should step down from the BCCI President's position forthwith and not cause anymore damage to Indian cricket which has been built on the sacrifices of a number of sports administrators and tremendous contribution of our icons," he said.

Bindra said that India is the epicentre of cricket and had an added responsibility to ensure that the game remained clean. "The events of the last week have greatly disturbed sports lovers of the country. What has happened has saddened everyone. It is in the best interest of the game that those involved step down to restore credibility," he said.

Earlier today, Attorney General Goolam Essaji Vahanvati said, "Fresh law against dishonest and unfair practices in sports needed."

Also according to Delhi Police a bookie named Mohd Yahya has been arrested in IPL spot-fixing scandal. He has also provided names of more Indian cricketers who were in touch with him. The names of the Indian cricketers have not yet been revealed.
