BJP leading in 142, Congress 33

The Bharatiya Janata Party was leading in 142 seats, while the Indian National Congress was leading in 33 seats, as per Election Commission figures put out at 9.27 a.m. on Friday.

The EC revealed the trends prevailing in 268 out of 543 constituencies.

Its website said that the Bahujan Samaj Party was leading in four seats, the Communist Party of India in one, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in nine, the Nationalist Congress Party in three, the Aam Aadmi Party in four, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in nine, the All India Forward Bloc in one, the Trinamool Congress in eleven, the All India United Democratic Front in one and the Biju Janata Dal in one.

It further stated that the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) was leading in one, the Indian Union Muslim League in two, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party in two, the Janata Dal (Secular) in one, the Kerala Congress (M) in one, the Lok Jan Shakti Party in one, the Samajwadi Party in seven, the Shiromani Akali Dal in three, the Shiv Sena in seven, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in six and Independents in three.
