Newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs from Haryana are meeting here on Tuesday to decide on who will be the next chief minister of the state.
The legislative party meeting will be attended by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and party vice president Dinesh Sharma, who have been appointed as central observers by the BJP Parliamentary Board.
BJP media in charge of Haryana Varinder Garg said, "Today, at noon, all newly-elected MLAs have been called for a meeting at the Union Territory guest house. The meeting will be attended by senior leaders such as Jagdish Mukhi and Dr Rajiv Jain, and by the central observers - Venkaiah Naidu and Dinesh Sharma."
When asked if the name of the Haryana CM will be finalized during today's meeting, Garg said, "The decision will be taken by the central parliamentary board very soon. Today's meeting is the first official meeting after the elections. The new MLA's will interact with each other and have a discussion on the matter, which will then be informed to the central parliamentary board."
The final decision lies entirely with the party's parliamentary board, he said.
Contesting the Haryana Assembly polls on its own for the first time, the BJP attained a majority by bagging 47 of the 90 assembly seats in the state.
