The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took a jibe at Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh after he expressed his desire to contest next year's Lok Sabha polls from Vidisha seat in Madhya Pradesh and challenge Sushma Swaraj, saying there is no need to take him seriously.

BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said he would like to comment on the matter only after the Congress Party gives a ticket to its General Secretary.

"Till the Congress Party gives him ticket, there is no need to respond to this because it has become a habit of Digvijay Singh and also Congress Party. He makes a statement in the morning and in the evening the Congress Party distances itself from the statement made by its own General Secretary Digvijay Singh," said Naidu.

"That being the case, there is no need to take him seriously. Wherever he wants to contest and against whichever leader he wants to lose, the choice is his. He wants to lose against Sushma Swaraj, best of luck for him," he added.

Digvijay Singh earlier in the day said that he would like to contest next Lok Sabha election from Vidisha seat in Madhya Pradesh, which is currently represented by Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj.

In an informal talk with reporters, he said he had no plans to contest from Rajgarh, which is his hometown, as it has already been represented by Congress member.

Singh said he wishes to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha polls from wherever the party wishes. He, however, added that he personally would like to contest from Vidisha and challenge Sushma Swaraj.
