The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday hinted at the possible formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir soon in the wake of an understanding with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
"Talks are on. We, the BJP are trying to form the government soon so that we can give Jammu and Kashmir a good government and to keep the problems of people at bay. Soon, within a week you will get to hear the good news," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Hina Bhat said.
According to reports, the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to take place after the Delhi assembly elections.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) earlier on Wednesday had stated that the next government in the state will be on basis of a common minimum programme and added that the dialogue between BJP and PDP will reach a consensus soon.
"The next government will be on the basis of a common minimum programme. We have an arrangement because on our own could not have won even a single seat, neither could BJP have. So, both the parties need seats. We also want to have two seats; they also want to have two seats. So, a seat sharing arrangement is there but has two different processes," PDP spokesperson Naeem Akhtar said.
Meanwhile, the Congress leader Salman Soz expressed doubts on the stability of BJP-PDP coalition government.

"That's a very tough question to answer. Because, ideologically the BJP and the PDP are exact opposites. I don't know how day to day functioning of the government will be. Of course, Mufti Mohammed Syed is a season leader so perhaps he will be able to manage the coalition. It is difficult to answer right now. I think I do feel that there might be some friction as time passes by," Soz said.
Governor's rule has been imposed in the state after the assembly elections threw a fractured verdict, with no party able to win the required number of seats to form the government.
The highest number of seats were won by PDP, but the party with 28 seats fell well short of 44 seats required to form the government.
