Taking on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati for attempting to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre on the issue of corruption, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today dubbed it ironical while stating that misgovernance was at its peak during the rule of the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
"Mayawati is a goddess of corruption. During her rule, a land grabbing issue surfaced when Agra-Noida express highway was built. Later, a scandal broke out in the National Rural Health Mission amounting to Rs. 5,000 cores, three CMOs were brutally killed under the corrupt BSP rule. Considering these facts, if Mayawati speaks of law and order situation then she is definitely mocking the people of Uttar Pradesh," BJP leader I.P. Singh told ANI.
Expressing confidence that the people of Uttar Pradesh would vote in favour of the BJP this time, Singh said the BSP has lost its political existence in the state.
With all eyes set on the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Mayawati yesterday described the NDA Government as 'pro-capitalist' and alleged that Prime Minister Modi had forgotten all of his promises made to the people before the 2014 general election.
Warning the people against the 'communal designs' of the RSS and BJP, the BSP supremo urged them not to lose their cool in the run-up to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
She also alleged that the 'anti-Dalit' Prime Minister Modi-led government raised issues of cow slaughter and love jihad to keep the minorities under fear.
