The Congress Party on Thursday lashed at out at the Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra Government for scrapping the quota for Muslims in education, saying the BJP's every step and legislative action is guided by the politics of communalism.

Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha alleged that most of the BJP chief ministers have got an RSS background.

"The problem with the BJP is that most of their chief ministers have now got an RSS background and we all know the philosophy, ideology of the RSS is totally, blatantly anti-minority," Jha said.

"So end of day, to look at the elevation of the sufferings of the minority community does not bother them at all. Every step that they take, any legislative action is all essentially guided by the politics of communalism and that is exactly what you are seeing today," he added.

The Congress spokesperson also took a jibe at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the issue.

"Please go and ask Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has he read the Sachar Committee report. I can tell you, he has not. Has he read the Ranganath Mishra Committee report? I can assure you he has not even heard of it," he said.

The BJP-led government in Maharashtra has scrapped an ordinance providing reservation for Muslims, despite the Bombay High Court allowing quota for the community in educational institutions.
