Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena has mutually benefitted both the parties.
"BJP and Shiv Sena alliance would have been great and it is upto individual party's decision that whether they want to have alliance or not. By the alliance both the parties have got benefitted," he said.
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said that there won't be any alliances with BJP in the upcoming civic elections across Maharashtra.
"I will not go into alliance, from now the fight has started. They (BJP) have many gundas in their party but we don't have gundas, we have mawlas (sainik)," he added.
Thackeray has in the past criticised the BJP with which the party is in alliance in Maharashtra and centre, and directly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
