Madhya Pradesh BJP President Nandkumar Chouhan on Tuesday slammed the 'dirty politics' over the deaths of the Vyapam scam accused and said his party was opposed to the politicization of the issue.
"It was being publicized that 44 people, who were accused by the SIT, have died and it is being politicized. We have kept this issue in front of the SIT. I am announcing the facts in front of you. On 7 July 2013, before the filing of the FIR, 11 people had died. And 14 people died after the filing of the FIR," said Chouhan.
"We are sad about the deaths. But we oppose the politicization of the issue. Six people died due to disease and six because of accidents and two people committed suicide. Total 14 people have died after 7 July, 2013. We have asked the SIT for an investigation into all this," he added.
A veterinary student related to the Vyapam scam was earlier reportedly found dead under mysterious circumstances in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh.
As per reports, 44 people, including the accused and the witnesses in this case, have died.
The Vyapam Scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, which holds exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.
Candidates allegedly bribed government officials to ensure that they made it to the list of those who cleared the test.
