The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday expressed its delight on it emerging victorious in at least three of the four states that had polls between November 11 and December 4, adding that this was a massive defeat for the Congress Party.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said: "We are very happy with the results of the four states because we are winning in all four states. This is a massive defeat of the Congress. The BJP, on its strength of governance, has got a hat trick victory in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. In Rajasthan, we have registered highest ever victory."

Asserting that BJP will form government in Delhi, party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain mocked the Congress leaders, saying that its time they pack their bags.

"The kind of results that are coming in right now, I feel the BJP will win 4-0. There is no doubt that BJP will form a government in Delhi. The wave of Narendra Modi has started, and BJP will win all four states, and we will form the Government at the Centre. It is time for Congress leaders to pack their bags," he said.

Echoing similar sentiments, BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy expressed confidence that the party will form a government in Delhi, but added that the number of seats secured by the debut Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is a mater of concern.

"BJP has got landslide victory in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. We knew Chhattisgarh would be a tough battle, but the final result will be in our favour. And we will form our government there under Raman Singh's leadership," he said.

"BJP will form a government in Delhi, but we thought we will have majority in here. However, this is a matter of concern that the Aam Aadmi Party has made a place for itself as well. The Congress is fully finished now,' he added.

Latest trends in Rajasthan show that the BJP is ahead in 130 seats, while Congress is leading in 33 seats. In Madhya Pradesh, BJP is ahead in 144 seats, while the Congress leading in 68 seats. In Delhi, newcomer AAP is leading in 23 seats, while the BJP is ahead in 32 seats and the Congress in 7 seats. In Chhattisgarh, there is a close battle between Congress and BJP with both leading in 43 seats. The results in these four states have begun to trickle in.

The counting of votes in four states began here this morning amidst tight security and elaborate arrangements made by the Election Commission.

The votes will decide the fate of contesting candidates in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh where assembly elections were held between November 11 and December 4.

Three time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has forwarded her resignation to the Lt.Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung, finally accepting that her Congress Party has lost the assembly polls in the national capital.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to be in the lead in the polls and is more or less certain of returning to power in Delhi after 15 years.

However, the BJP may have to share the responsibility of governance of the Delhi with the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
