Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader Anurag Thakur on Monday criticized the UPA Government for enforcing its anti-people policies on the public.

Referring specifically to the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case and the Food Security ordinance, Thakur said these were steps that give encouragement to terrorism on the one hand, and on the other, lead to economic mismanagement of essential resources and uncontrollable vote-bank politics.

He called on the youth of the country to help the BYJP and the BJP in the nation building process.

Thakur, a lawmaker, said: "The senior officials of the IB (Intelligence Bureau) feel insulted, and they have stopped giving any inputs to other agencies. If this continues, then instead of a decrease in militant attacks in the country, there would be a sharp rise."

Thakur's attack on the Congress-led Central Government was in reference to the July 3 chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which had concluded that 19-year-old Ishrat Jahan was not a militant. The fake encounter case killed Jahan, in a fierce shootout in Ahmedabad, in 2004. The Crime Branch of India's western Gujarat Police alleged hat she was an alleged operative of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Thakur further attacked the Congress' "anti-people policies", by commenting on the issue of the Food Security Bill, saying it was merely a tool to attract voters.

"Today, the Congress is talking of Food Security Bill, but it doesn't consider or discuss it with its allies and (instead) brings it in the form of an ordinance (executive order). But the country also knows that this is an election gimmick, which according to its plan is just an announcement to turn the mood of the people in its favour," said Thakur.

The proposed food security bill is a 22 billion dollar welfare scheme, making it the largest food security programme in the world.

"We want the youth of this country to play a very important role in the nation building process. Youth being the largest stakeholder they have to come forward and play an important role in brining a change in this country and in the government.
