Under-fire Sepp Blatter has officially filed an appeal against his 90-day suspension from football by the FIFA's Ethics Committee due to Swiss proceedings against him.

Confirming the news, Blatter's friend Klaus Stohlker said that the former had made an appeal to defend his position.

Meanwhile, Blatter's lawyers revealed that he is looking forward to providing some evidence that would prove that his client is innocent, the Guardian reports.

Earlier, FIFA had relieved Blatter of all his duties as a president, which in turn barred him to communicate as a FIFA representative to the media or any other stakeholder.

In addition, UEFA president Michel Platini saw his ambitions of succeeding Blatter end after receiving an identical sanction.

FIFA plunged into an unprecedented crisis when Swiss prosecutors had last month opened criminal proceedings against Blatter over allegations that he had sold World Cup TV rights to disgraced former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner for 20 times below than their actual value.
