Blog publishing platform Medium has reportedly launched its iPhone app, following a short delay, which focuses on reading and recommending stories.
A user can sign in with Twitter on the app and surf through a list of stories based on what is popular and what a user has already selected to follow.
According to The Verge, Medium, which has raised 25 million-dollars, has become a kind of YouTube for text as it allows a user to post essays using an elegant, highly visual publishing platform, without making a commitment to start a blog or build an independent audience.
However, there is no guarantee which story a user will land up on as the app allows a user to navigate primarily by swiping and there is no search feature, which makes it difficult to find particular stories or authors, the report added.
The Medium app, which allows a user to share articles through Twitter, Facebook and email, does not allow a user to write stories using the app yet, but the company has reportedly revealed that the feature is coming eventually.
