More than 300 units of blood were collected during the first day of the two-day 'Blood Donation Camp' organised by the Rotary Club of Delhi City at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.

The 'Blood Donation Camp' was inaugurated by H K Bakshi - President, Rotary Club, Ajay Chauhan- Trustee, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation and various other distinguished members of Rotary Club.

During the day, more than 300 units of blood were collected. In total, 505 enthusiastic students registered themselves for Blood Donation. However, due to low BP and hemoglobin levels, over 300 could donate the blood. Doctors advised them to eat healthy, nutritious food and improve their lifestyle pattern.

Sharing his views, Rotary Club President H K Bakshi expressed his joy over the zeal and excitement shown by Amity students in the noble cause of blood donation. He highlighted that there is a shortage of over 1 lakh units of blood for patients in Delhi/NCR itself. Many accident victims, innocent children suffering from Thalassemia, pregnant women, cancer patients and other people in life threatening situation die due to shortage of blood.

He shared that anybody who is in the age group of 18-65 years with weight more than 45 kgs could donate blood and blood donation does not effect the health, the donor can immediately resume his/her work. He stressed that one need not to be a doctor to save lives; donating blood after every three months could save many lives since 1 pint of blood could save three lives.

Ajay Chauhan, Trustee, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation, appreciated the students for their whole hearted participation in Blood Donation Camp. He encouraged students to donate blood in large numbers so that somewhere somebody in need could be helped in time.
