Alpha Media's deal to sell the lad magazine Maxim to Darden Media is back on track and industry veteran Bob Guccione Jr. is reportedly speculated to be named as the next chief.
Guccione said that the deal is expected to close in the next seven or 14 days.
According to the New York Post, Guccione made his name at the helm of Spin magazine and also started now-defunct men's magazine Gear.
Guccione's most recent gig running Discover Media ended in 2007.
The report said that the deal had been stalled because one of the financial backers behind Calvin Darden Sr., a retired UPS executive who sits on the board of Coca-Cola and Target, backed out putting the deal in jeopardy.
Calvin Darden Jr. is also expected to play a role in the newly formed Darden Media, but he has denied having any role or title in the company, the report added.
