Nigerian military has said that it has agreed upon a ceasefire deal with the Islamist militants Boko Haram and that the group would release the school girls it had earlier abducted.
According to the BBC, Nigeria's chief of defence staff Alex Badeh announced the truce agreement while Boko Haram has not made a public statement.
The group is inflicting violence since 2009 killing almost 2,000 civilians this year.
Boko Haram sparked fury worldwide six months ago after they abducted more than 200 schoolgirls.
The girls were captured in the north-eastern town of Chibok in Borno state which led to criticism of the Nigerian government's efforts in rescuing the girls.
