Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea on Saturday lost the summit clash to Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray at the ATP Apia International and thus settle with the runner-up finish.
The fourth seeded Indo-Romanian pair lost the final 3-6, 6-7(6) to the unseeded Brazilian-Briton pair in a match that lasted for one hour and 29 minutes.
Bopanna and his Romanian partner had a chance to stretch the match to a Super Tie-breaker by racing to a 4-0 lead in the second-set tie-breaker, but were unable to do so and allowed the rivals to come back and snatch the win.
35-year-old Bopanna, who is a defending champion in this tournament, had won the title last year with Canadian partner Daniel Nestor.
