British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson will be in Dhaka on a two-day official visit commencing from February 9.
He will call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Johnson is also scheduled to hold talks with Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali, reports The Dhaka Tribune.
"When a foreign minister of any country visits another country, it is done completely to serve political purpose. Our relation with UK is extremely good. We are trying to elevate our relationship into strategic partnership." the report quoted a government official as saying.
The two sides are likely to dwell upon the Rohingya issue, easing British visa process for Bangladesh nationals including students, promoting businesses run by Bangladesh diaspora in the UK, the cargo ban among others.
He is likely to visit makeshift camps of forcibly displaced minority Myanmar nationals living in Cox's Bazar.
