Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on his first visit to Bangladesh, and both countries are agog with unprecedented expectations that bilateral relations will reach a new level during his 34-hour-long stay in the country.
According to the Daily Star, both India and Bangladesh expect that Prime MInister Modi's visit will lead to an exploration of economic and trade potential between the two countries, keeping borders open for each other.
Prime Minister Modi's Bangladesh visit is expected to be special and unlike his visits to Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Myanmar, as the two neighbours are expected to get the sensitive connectivity in rail, road and waterways started.
As a part of Prime Minister Modi's vision for regional development, both India and Bangladesh are set to establish a stronger partnership in many sectors.
Bangladesh officials said that Dhaka will ask Modi for an increased participation of India via investment in economic, power and infrastructure sectors in the growth story of Bangladesh.
