Legendary England batsman Geoffrey Boycott has warned new England coach Peter Moores to start well with the team or risk ending up like deposed Manchester United boss David Moyes.

With a one-day match against World Cup qualifiers Scotland first up, and a full series against Sri Lanka to come, there is no time for Moores and captain Alastair Cook to feel their way into things.

According to the Mirror, Boycott warned that the former Lancashire coach needs to replace England's dismal winter aura with a winning spirit soon or find himself replaced as quickly as the Scot, adding that both the sports are result-oriented for which it is necessary to play well and accept losses gracefully.

Stating that England needs freshness and results, Boycott further urged Moores to have a good working relationship with the managing director Paul Downton, chairman of selectors James Whitaker and Cook, adding that the team needs to get away from their comfort zone to play hard, tough cricket.
