'Boyhood' has been honored with four awards, including best picture, actress and director from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
Stephen Farber, the association's president said that Richard Linklater's movie, which was filmed over the course of 12 years, was honored with "originality" from LAFCA, with several other prizes, and they had "again honored a range of films from around the world and an impressive array of emerging and veteran talents," Deadline.com reported.
Awarded best director, Linklater had notably shot the film a few days at a time over 12 years, following the maturation in real time of a 5-year-old boy Ellar Coltrane, into adulthood. Patricia Arquette won best actress for the film, which also stars Ethan Hawke.
'The Grand Budapest Hotel' and Polish film 'Ida' each won two awards with Budapest's Wes Anderson winning the best screenplay and 'Ida's Agata Kulesza winning best supporting actress, while Tom Hardy won best actor for 'Locke'.
Ava DuVernay was named the New Generation winner, and 'Birdman' received one award for Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki's cinematography.
