Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly been honoured with the League Managers Association (LMA) ' 'Manager of the Year' award.

Rodgers guided Liverpool to second-place in the Premier League and a return to the Champions League, as the side finished just two points behind Manchester City.

According to the BBC, Rodgers, who also managed Swansea City, is the first Liverpool boss to win the award, which is voted for by all 92 managers in the Premier League and Football League, in its 20-year history.

Rodgers, who helped Liverpool to be strong contenders for their first top-flight title since 1990, quipped that he was hoping to be on the 'open bus' after receiving the award.

Meanwhile, the report added that Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis was named Premier League manager of the year.
