Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday trained guns at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the PNB scam and asked him to bring back absconding businessman Nirav Modi to India.
Addressing an election rally in Meghalaya, Rahul said, "I request Modi ji (Prime Minister), on behalf of all of us, to bring back the other (Nirav) Modi when he goes on another of his many foreign trips. We will all be very grateful as a nation to get our hard-earned money back."
The Congress chief also drew a parallel between the Prime Minister and Nirav Modi and said the latter fooled people by selling diamonds and the former deceived the nation by selling dreams like "'achche din', Rs 15 lakh in everyone's bank account and two crore jobs."
He further hit out at the Centre while saying that it only endorsed hopelessness, unemployment, fear, hatred and violence instead of giving hope, security and economic growth.
Earlier in the day, Rahul conducted a roadshow in Shillong ahead of the assembly elections on February 27 in the state.
