Brit-Indian businessman Shrien Dewani, who allegedly killed his bride during their honeymoon in South Africa, told doctors how he desperately banged doors for help after his wife was shot dead, a court heard.

Dewani is fighting extradition to South Africa where he is accused of hiring a hitman to kill his wife Anni, 28. She was shot dead in a taxi on the outskirts of Cape Town in November 2010.

According to the Mirror, psychiatrist Dr Ian Cumming said Dewani, who claims he is not mentally fit to stand trial, had spoken about the shooting while in Fromeside Hospital, Bristol.

Cumming said Dewani had told him he knocked on shacks for help and called the police.

The hearing still continues.
