The British MPs, peers and parliamentary staff reportedly tried to gain access to adult websites 3, 09, 316 times in the past year on parliamentary computers.

The revelations come amidst the PM's adviser Claire Perry's remarks on school children being taught about the dangers of online porn while the government's own leaders are indulging in it themselves.

The figures revealed in response to a freedom of information request, indicate that almost 850 attempts to click on porn pages were blocked every day between May 2012 and July 2013.

According to Mirror, the officials visited sites such as 'Out of Town Affairs' on parliamentary computers which alone had 52,000 hits in seven months while the Westminster computers were blocked from viewing sex sites 1, 14, 844 in November alone and another 55,552 in April.

A Commons spokeswoman said that they are not going to restrict parliamentarians' ability to carry out research.

Anti-censorship campaigner, Killock, of the Open Rights Group, said that it showed how difficult it was to classify porn on the web and block it adding that PM David Cameron's 'opt-in' system is unlikely to be effective.

The TaxPayers' Alliance said that the figures highlight the fact that many people working in Parliament are spending far too much time on websites that have nothing to do with their job.

The firm further added that it is very important that these figures are in the public domain so that taxpayers can see exactly how the time they are paying for is actually being spent.
