Britain MPs have spent a total of 266,110 pounds on alcohol in the House of Commons providing for an average bar bill of 409 pounds each year for 650 MPs.

Ale has been deemed as the most popular drink among members and their guests, with 14,000 pints sunk in 2012 at a cost of 39,253 pounds, The Sun reports.

According to the report, Becks lager was the next popular drink in the parliament with 7,887 pints sold for 25,663 pounds.

The report stated that the members spent about 80,000 pounds on wines and an additional 36,000 pounds on spirits.

A spokesman for the Commons said that drink prices were 'substantially increased' in 2010.

The report also said that taxpayers who subsidize Westminster's food and drink to the tune of 5.8 million pounds will be annoyed at the revelation.

The members are forcing laws to reduce alcohol prices in their bars, the report added.
