British supermarket retail chain Asda has reportedly defended its wearable England flag that it launched for the World Cup, after criticisms emerged that it resembles a racist US group Ku Klux Klan outfit.

Asda said that the 3-pound St George's Cross, with the word England on the red cross, featuring a hood is to allow fans to stay dry in the unpredictable British weather.

However, fans took to Twitter to point out the wearable World Cup flag resembles the hoods worn by the racist US organization, which is also known by its initials KKK, The Guardian reported.

A user posted a picture of himself on his Twitter account saying that Asda are selling wearable England flags that look dodgy to say the least.

Another user posted on his account that 'England Rules Ok', but Asda simply does simply not bother to see how the hoods look like when worn.

An Asda spokeswoman said that the company had also produced a wearable Brazilian flag before the World Cup, which starts on June 12, adding that they knew there is chatter on Twitter about their wearable tournament flags, but it is simply a flag with a hood, nothing more or less.
