A British skier has reportedly fallen to his death in front of his son after hitting his head on a rock at the French Alps in an accident reminiscent of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher's one.
It was in the French Alps resort of Meribel that on December 29 last year, the retired seven-time German champion fell and hit his head on a rock, suffering a brain trauma and is now in intensive care in a medically-induced coma.
According to the Mirror, the recent accident, which happened in the resort of La Clusaz on an 'easy' blue run, saw the 51-year-old unnamed man fall from a height of 17 feet before hitting his head, suffering a serious head injury.
Although the police evacuated the man by emergency helicopter and rushed him to a hospital in nearby Annecy, however, the man died from his injuries soon afterwards.
A police spokesman has said that they launched an enquiry, and are liaising with members of the deceased man's family.
