British Facebook users selling kidneys for 20,000 pounds on social network site

People in Britain are reportedly taking to Facebook to sell their kidneys in exchange for money.

The trend of going under the knife for was discovered by a newspaper reporter, after he found a Facebook page dedicated to organ trade.

According to Metro, people travel abroad to undergo black market operations, often in India, Pakistan and China, and are typically paid 20,000 Euros for the same.

The reported, who posted a message on the page posing as the brother of a woman who needed a transplant, received 11 offers within a week.

While advertising organs for sale is punishable by up to three years in prison under British law, responses were sent by people in countries around the world, including Mexico and Tanzania.

Luc Noel, coordinator for Clinical Procedures at the World Health Organization, said that the reporter's Facebook findings demonstrated the power of easy money.
