England pace bowler Stuart Broad has branded New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum as the 'danger man' to watch out for at the World Cup.

Broad, who caused a stir last week after suggesting that co-hosts Australia wouldn't make the final, suggested that England would play either New Zealand or South Africa in the decider of the tournament.

Now heaping more pressure on the New Zealand squad by praising the batting and leadership of their skipper, Broad has tipped McCullum to be the star at the tournament, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Broad claimed that McCullum can get New Zealand off to absolute fliers and can hit the ball as well as anyone in the world, adding that one can see how key the skipper is by the celebrations whenever anyone gets him out.

Broad also claimed that McCullum is on his own patch, too, so he added that the New Zealander would be a danger man.

McCullum joned Australian Glenn Maxwell, England's Moeen Ali and Steve Finn, and India's Virat Kohli as the players to watch on Broad's list.

Broad claimed that much of the New Zealand game is built around their innovative captain, adding that a renowned big hitter, McCullum is tasked with opening the innings at a run-a-ball rate.

The paceman said that in the field, McCullum's astute rotation of bowlers, at times using one-over spells to break stubborn partnerships, is capable of controlling the pace of the game.

Broad also said that McCullum's skill set includes relentless energy when chasing the ball which rubs off on the rest of the team to make New Zealand an extraordinary fielding side.
