New Zealand's Bruce Martin has said that his motto is to play every Test match like it is his last, after he was picked in the squad following a 115 first-class test wait, and is looking forward to the Bangladesh tour.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Martin hasn't played a competitive match since the Lord's test, when a charging England opener Nick Compton was his solitary scalp.

He said that he does not need much more motivation because at this age, every game was an opportunity to get another game, adding that he always tries to put his name up there.

Martin made a rapid start to his test career, taking nine wickets and scoring 61 runs for once out in Dunedin and Wellington, against England, the report said.

He came back to earth with a wicketless third test in Auckland as New Zealand pursued victory, then struggled in the chilly early summer in the UK, the report added.

He said that the Bangladeshis had a good side especially at home, and it would be a good opportunity for him to pick up some wickets on those tracks.
