The soldiers of Border Security force (BSF) initiated a plantation drive by sowing saplings across Indo-Bangladesh border in order to promote environmental conversation as a part of 'Green Mission' on Tuesday (August 19).
The troopers also exchanged plants with the Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) along the India-Bangladesh border as an effort to boost relationship within the two countries.
One of the BSF soldiers, K Ganesh appreciated the initiative and said the exchange of friendship trees was organised in a bid to promote mutual cooperation with the counterparts.
"We had a concept of tree of friendship. So, the saplings we are giving the, they'll plant there and also, the trees they have planted here will remind us that they have been planted by BGP soldiers. So it is a soft of promoting the relationship with our counterparts. We felt great," said he.
The soldiers of India's border Security force reportedly planted more than 100 thousand saplings within half an hour across the India and Bangladesh border outpost.
Reportedly, the plantation drive was conceptualized by the BSF Director General, DK Pathak in a hope to reduce environmental degradation and evoke awareness towards ecological balance.
