Border Security Force (BSF) killed one Bangladeshi cattle-smuggler at the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal on Monday.
BSF in Mathurapure at the border under South Dinajpur district of the state gunned down the smuggler who has been identified as Jani Babu, resident of Jaipurhut district of Bangladesh.
The incident occurred when a group of 40-50 Bangladesh smugglers who entered into India and crossed a temporary Indo-Bangladesh fencing to poach cattle's into their land, BSF jawans tried to stop them.
According to Border Security Force (BSF) the smugglers started attack on the BSF soldiers, as a result the soldiers fired PAG (Pump Action Gun) which injured Jani Babu and later he was declared death at the hospital.
After the incident, the 75 battalion of the BSF and 3BGB officers came to the spot and began flag meeting, BGB accepted died man as Bangladeshi and asked for further investigation.
India shares 4096km of border with Bangladesh of which West-Bengal have the most of 2216km.The North-Bengal Frontier has a border of 1070km with the country and has a number of porous areas where 600 already covered with fence through which mostly cattle illegally moves into Bangladesh from various parts of northern and northeastern India.
