Over 50 BSF posts targeted in J&K; civilians forced to migrate

Nearly 30 border villages were affected by the fire from Pakistan side

Thousands of people living on the international border here are now forced to migrate to safer place as the Pakistan rangers last night again resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and heavy firing on the BSF posts.

According to BSF, over 50 BSF posts and nearly 30 border villages were affected by the fire from Pakistan side that restored at 8.30 p.m last night that injured at least one BSF jawan and some civilians.

"Pakistan is firing continuously. That's why we planned to leave our place," said a local.

"Whole village has been cleared as everybody is moving to safer places," he added.

Almost all the BSF posts in Kanachak Arnia and Pargwal area of Akhnoor sector were targeted. However, at all the places our force gave strong and befitted reply.

The people are under terror and passing sleepless night in worse condition without any arrangement.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kathua, Dr Shahid Iqbal accompanied by SSP Mohan Lal along with administrative team rushed to the migration camp and affected villages to secure the people.

Dr Shahid Iqbal said, "We are visiting every migrate camp and temporary arrangements have been made. We are providing food and blanket to them.
