The Border Security Force on Monday seized fake Rs.2000 currency notes worth Rs. 92000 from Malda district of West Bengal.

The BSF seized fake currency notes from the Border Out Post Sasani in the Malda's Indo-Bangladesh border.

One person has been arrested for his alleged role in the procurement and circulation of high quality Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN),

The Income Tax department has been alerted about the seizure. An FIR has been registered in this regard.

This isn't the first time fake currency has been siezed in Malda. In February this year, fake currency worth nearly Rs. 2, 00,000 was recovered in Malda.

These seizures and arrests have made headlines and jolted the note-ban drive. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation drive is aimed at eradicating counterfeit currency - the new Rs 2000 notes were touted as difficult to copy.
