The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) worth Rs. 2 lakh in West Bengal's Malda district.

The notes were of Rs. 2000 denomination.

S.R. Anjaneyulu, the Inspector General of BSF said that the seized FICN's were not able to match the texture of the Indian notes.

"The new FICN notes have not been able to match the texture of the paper of the Indian note. We have been working with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as well as the state agencies, who have in the last few months made several apprehensions related to this," he said.

"The information for this apprehension was worked out because another accused of FICN in 2015 was arrested in collaboration with NIA," he added.

Anajaneyulu also stated that Bangladesh has been providing BSF with information about FICN racketeers across the border.
