Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday expressed his disappointment over the Union Budget, saying that it does not take care of the farmers, the youth and the unemployed.
"This budget has not taken care of farmers, youth and unemployed, which should have been done. The Prime Minister himself had said that the country cannot move forward without the farmers. Nothing is there in the budget for farmers. Poverty increases because of unemployment," Yadav said.
"The Prime Minister represents Uttar Pradesh, and there was nothing announced for Uttar Pradesh in the budget. People of Uttar Pradesh are upset with that," he added.
He also said that the increase in service tax, as proposed in the budget, would lead to inflation.
"Increase in custom exercise and service tax will lead to price rise. They should have instead done something to arrest the rising prices," he said.
