Button claims thought about competing at 2016 Rio Olympics while struggling with F1 career last year

British driver Jenson Button has revealed that he did think about competing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, which might have led him to quitting Formula One racing.

Button is a fanatical triathlete and considered a variety of options when his Formula One career was under threat at the end of last season. He said that he did think about Rio and then decided that he won't do it.

Button, who is preparing for the new campaign with the troubled McLaren-Honda outfit, said that he firstly is way too old -about 10 years too old compared to the Brownlee Brothers- and so it's definitely not for him, The Mirror reported.

Button claimed that he is a pretty good amateur athlete but added that anyone at the top of their game as a professional is at a completely different level to that.

Last year Button met the famous British triathlon brothers Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, and a day with the duo in a fitness face-off at a laboratory in London was enough to demonstrate that the Formula One ace was nearly as fit as the Brownlee boys, but that they require far less energy for the same output.

Button wished them good luck and is hopeful that everyone is supporting them to bring home the gold and silver and not the gold and bronze like last time.

Button would compete for the first time in the London Marathon on April 26 in aid of Cancer Research hoping to beat his personal best for the distance of 2 hours 58 minutes, the report added.
